M. Herschel Mann, Ph.D., CPA, is the KPMG Professor of Accounting at Texas Tech University. He received his Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Alabama and his BBA from the University of Arkansas at Monticello. His previous work experience was with Grant Thornton & Co. At Texas Tech, he has received five university-wide teaching awards, including the President's Excellence in Teaching Award. In addition, he has been named as the outstanding faculty member in the College of Business Administration and the outstanding faculty member in the Department of Accounting. He also serves as chairman of Texas Tech's Athletic Council. Dr. Mann was the Texas Society of CPAs' 1994 State of Texas nominee for the AICPA Educator of the Year Award. He is the author or co-author of eight interactive CPE courses for MicroMash, co-author of a CPA Review book, and co-author of two CPE Associates' CPE courses. He has served on various professional committees, including the AICPA's Task Force on Accounting for Interest Income, the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy's Technical Standards Review Committee, and the Texas Society of CPAs' Accounting, Auditing, and Reporting Standards Committee and the Editorial Board for its publication, Today's CPA.

Anthony (Tony) P. Curatola, Ph.D., is the Joseph F. Ford Professor at Drexel University. Dr. Curatola's area of research interest is the taxation of employee benefits. He is a contributor to many journals in his field, such as The Tax Advisor, Taxes, Oil and Gas Tax Quarterly, Benefits Quarterly, Journal of Pension Planning and Compliance, and Tax Notes. His findings have appeared in media such as Forbes, the Washington Post, Money Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, and the New York Times. He currently is the editor of the Strategic Finance column “Taxes” and serves on several editorial review boards.

Marshall B. Romney, Ph.D., CPA, CFE, is a Professor of Accounting and Information Systems in the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University. He has published twenty books, including the leading text on Accounting Information Systems, and has had over 100 articles and manuscripts published in academic and professional journals. Romney has also developed and taught training courses on fraud to the FBI, the Institute of Internal Auditors, and corporate and governmental organizations. He was also an advisor to the National Commission on Fraudulent Reporting. Romney's memberships include the Institute of Internal Auditors and the American Accounting Association, for which he served as president of the Information Systems/Management Advisory Systems section.

William E. (Bill) Thompson, CIA, CBA, CFE, is President of T Paradigm, Inc., which has specialized in bank auditing, compliance and loan review, technology consulting, and development of auditors and audit systems for over a decade. He has been involved in bank auditing since 1963, with responsibilities including audit management in small to large banks. Bill was International Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), the international professional society of internal auditors, in 1981–82. He had one of the early assignments as director of internal control for a major bank and had responsibilities for research and development of bank operating systems. Bill joined the staff of the IIA as Director of Education and later as Director of Research & Development. He has served on the faculties of the IIA, the School for Bank Administration, and the Independent Bankers' Association of America. He has been a frequent lecturer for these organizations and others and has developed educational materials for a number of professional organizations. He has taught courses in auditing methods and procedures, information technology auditing, operational auditing, auditing of regulatory compliance programs, audit communications, and the use of personal computers in auditing.
